A Week of Firsts

Kate had a lot of firsts on our recent trip to Hilton Head, so I want to celebrate them here.  Let's see...

1. She rode on an airplane for the first time (and did GREAT!)

2. She went swimming for the first time

toes in the water

getting deeper

she liked it!

hoping this girl is a water bug like her mama

3. She put her feet in the ocean for the first time

4. She touched sand for the first time

look at those pudgy little feet - I love them!
5. She took her first shower (no pictures of that one)

6. She went for her first beach walk

7. She got her first cold (no pictures of that one)

8. She rolled from her belly to her back, but only Matt and Brian were there (no pictures of that either)

Way to go, Kate! You are such a joy!

4 Month Stats

Kate had her four month checkup at the doctor yesterday.  Everything looked great, which we are so very thankful for.  Here's how she's growing...

Weight: 13 lb, 3 oz (30%)
Height: 24 in (30%)
Head Circumference:41.4 cm (54%)

She got the same two shots and one oral vaccine as at her two month appointment, but she tolerated them much better this time.  She got mad and cried, but was smiling again by the time we got in the car.

Back to the Beginning

Matt asked me to marry him on Hilton Head Island, almost exactly 6 years ago:)

We had the chance to go back for vacation with his family last week.

It was a week of firsts for Kate and a week of lots of memories and memory-making for Matt and I.  We (more like I) were a little nervous for how Kate would do with all the travel since we had three flights, meaning 6 take-offs and landings.  I gleaned advice from a few friends, and she did wonderfully! On the way down, she slept from GR to Chicago, I fed her on the way up from Chicago and she was happy on the way down in Charlotte.  I fed her again on the way up in Charlotte and the final landing in Hilton Head seemed to be the only one that bothered her ears.  Thankfully, a friend had told us to take a bottle with water, and that did the trick!

just before taking off in GR

sleeping from GR to Chicago

sleeping (again!) from Chicago to Charlotte

playing and jabbering in the Charlotte airport

We got into Hilton Head late Saturday night and she pretty much went straight to bed.  She did great with keeping her morning nap consistent all week and slept well in the pack n play.

Here's how we spent our week:

we took lots of walks...

played with uncle Bri...

and uncle Paul...

and aunt Tess...

the boys did a crossword every morning...

we ate lots of yummy seafood...

Kate got LOTS of kisses:)...

We tried new foods (not really!)...

hung out by the pool...

took more walks...

fell asleep on walks...

and LOVED being by the ocean...

Getting away was a great change of pace for all of us.  The weather was great, the ocean was beautiful, the fish was yummy, and it was so much fun to spend time with our family.

March Madness

Yes, yes, I know that the NCAA basketball tournament starts today, but this weather we've been having is madness too! Matt is on a rotation in the newborn nursery this month and was home early yesterday so we went for a walk and ate dinner outside on the deck.  Today, Kate and I had lunch on the front porch.  I could get used to this!

Jail break!

In case you can't tell, Kate escaped from under her blanket, twirled 90 degrees, and then stuck her foot out of the crib slats:) She cracks me up!

Sleeping Beauty

Isn't she just precious when she's sleeping? I can't get over her:)

not sure how, but she rotated herself 90 degrees while sleeping

zonked!

we have a grabber!

In the last week or so, Kate has started to grab onto things.  She usually doesn't hold on to them too long, and they usually end up in her mouth, but she's having fun:)
