#1 Tigers Fan
Isn't she the sweetest thing you've ever seen?
Yesterday, Kate and I had the opportunity to road trip over to Detroit for the Tigers game. We went with my parents and Andy and Sam and it was a great time. Because the game was at 4:00 pm, I thought the timing would work out perfectly: Kate would take her afternoon nap in the car from about 1:00-3:00, I would feed her when we got to the game, and she would sleep again the whole way home. Well, of course Kate had her own plans:) She only slept about 30 minutes on the way to the game and a little over an hour on the way home. But, she was a very happy girl and seemed to enjoy the game (or at least the people we were with), so it really didn't matter.
The rain held off for the whole game, the Tigers won, and we had a great time. I would say it was a success. The only thing that would have made it better is if Matt could have come with us. But, he had to work (and he worked a monster day, 6:30 am - 9:00 pm!), and we were really sad to go without him. Hopefully we'll all be able to go together next summer!

Happy Anniversary: South Haven edition
In case you didn't already know, we love Lake Michigan.
Even though I grew up in this area, and even though Matt has lived here for a total of about 6 years now, neither of us had ever been to South Haven until last weekend. We decided we wanted to get away for our 5th anniversary, but since we were leaving Kate overnight for the first time, we didn't want to go too far. South Haven turned out to be the perfect place.
We dropped Kate off at my parent's house on Saturday afternoon and got her down for a nap before we took off. Once we got to South Haven, we spent a few hours walking around town, in and out of shops, got ice cream, and then checked into our Bed & Breakfast. We tried to go to dinner at an Italian restaurant downtown around 6:00, but they were booked until after 8:00, so we thought we'd go somewhere else. Well, everywhere else had long waits too, so we decided to make a reservation at our first choice restaurant for after dark and walk out to the pier for the sunset.
Everything worked out perfectly because it was pretty much the most beautiful sunset ever. Incredibly colors and not a cloud in the sky. Does it get any better than this?
The weather was beautiful and we had a great time away, just celebrating each other and the gift that our marriage has been (and continues to be) to each of us.
Thank you to my mom and dad for hanging out with Kate for her first overnight! Leaving her for the night turned out to be easier than I thought it would be, and seeing her excitement when we got back was priceless!

We had an amazing dinner at Tello, then headed back to the B&B for the night. Sunday morning, we had a really good breakfast and then walked a few miles on the beach before heading home.

10 months
On Friday, Kate turned 10 months old! She finally popped a tooth through on Saturday (Tessa, we were right!) and had a weekend of fun with her grandparents - more on that later. But for now, here are her 10 month pictures...
Happy 10 months to our curious, crawling, smily, silly, squirmy, Kate. We love you!

a few new things
Kate has a couple new favorite things to do, and I want to remember them, so I need to write them down. Right now, at nine and a half months, Kate enjoys...
- crawling over to the bookshelf and pulling all the books down. Sometimes she actually looks at them, sometimes she pretends to read them, and sometimes she just crawls on them or chews on them
- banging toys together to make noise
- pointing her adorable little finger at anything and everything (and sometimes nothing!)
- eating meat
- sitting in the front of the cart at the grocery store
- jabbering away in her own sweet language (with lots of tongue noise!)
- giving us a super cheesy smile, with her nose all scrunched up

summer's last hurrah
Labor Day seems to signal the end of summer. I'm not quite ready for summer to be over, but I have been noticing how early the sun is setting these days. The cooler mornings and evenings are becoming a welcome change and I am excited for the fall colors....I guess fall can come after all:)
Matt worked most of Labor Day weekend (a small price to pay in exchange for Christmas and New Years off this year! Yay!), and Kate and I spent most of the weekend at my parent's house. Adam came home from Chicago, and Andy and Sam came out for the day Sunday. I love family time. I love my family. We missed Bryan:(
Kate played the drums with Uncle Adam on Saturday...
On Sunday, we all had dinner together at my parent's house. Then we enjoyed the pool. Then we looked at pictures from my parent's trip to Alaska and Andy & Sam's Appalachian Trail hike. I kind of got the travel bug after looking at all the beautiful places they've been recently!
On Monday night, my parent's hosted a Labor Day cookout/pool party so we could all swim one last time before they start closing the pool. Kate was SO excited to hang out with her cousin(ish) Lukas.
