Boyne Vacation 2014

Saturday
Matt was working all weekend, so the girls and I drove up north in the morning.  We had a pretty much perfect trip; Livvy slept for 2 of the 3 hours and didn't need to stop to eat.  Kate was pretty low key, and snoozed for about 20 minutes half way through.

That night, the power went out around 4:30 pm.  It didn't come back on for 12 hours.  That made dinner and bedtime with two little ones a little complicated.  Thank goodness I put batteries in the girls' sound machines, so those were at least working.

"Surprise face!"
Sunday
I woke up and thought that Kate had slept through the night in the bunk house, only to find out that she woke up Nikki and Paul at 4:00 am (I couldn't hear her because the monitor wasn't plugged in and I was upstairs with Livvy) and proceeded to talk their ears off about the electricity and the guy who ran into the pole by the laundry facility.  Nikki already had her hands full with Annabelle, so Paul was delegated as Kate's middle of the night snuggler.  She gave him a little bit of sass, but fell back asleep.  Sorry guys!

Sunday was chilly and rainy:(

Monday
It was chilly! While Liv slept, Kate and I colored with sidewalk chalk.  After Liv's morning nap, we headed into Petoskey for a Chocolate Tour at Kilwins.  Did you know that Kilwin's started in Petoskey? I didn't.  The tour was pretty short, but it was fun.  And we got to try a piece of candy at the end:)
sweet, sweet smiles

Tuesday
The weather still wasn't very warm, but we took a trip down to the beach at Deer Lake to play in the sand anyway.
hanging out with Uncle Paul

Wednesday
The girls and I drove down to Traverse City to see Jill and her boys.  It was such a fun day! Kate and Lincoln picked up right where they left off and were happy to play all day.  Graham is getting so big! Of course there were plenty of fights and toddler tantrums, but we really love spending time with the Hammers, and it was so worth it.  Worst part of the day: Liv crying 3/4 of the way back to Boyne.

love from Auntie Jill
silly kids!

these two stinkers were 'washing dishes'
Thursday
We spent most of the day around the condo and had lots of fun play time with Jack and Hadley.  We did dinner in Boyne City at Cafe Sante.  Kate had chocolate milk for the first time.  Priceless.  She was sucking it down faster than I've seen her eat or drink anything before.

dance time!
milk + chocolate...could it get any better?

Friday
It finally started to warm up, so (after a 1.5 hour breakfast battle) we spent the morning at Deer Lake, playing in the sand and the water.  The kids ran all over the shallow water trying to catch minnows:) After naps in the afternoon, we met Ryan and Elizabeth and Hadley at the pool.

At about 10:00 pm, Matt finally arrived.  He had a super busy week at the hospital, and drove straight up after work that night.  I couldn't have been happier to see him.

Liv even got her toes wet:)
Saturday
We soaked up our time with daddy by taking walks, reading books, playing, and swimming at Deer Lake again.  The day seriously went SO fast (and apparently I didn't take many pictures).

Sunday
After breakfast, we packed up and headed home.  Matt took Kate in his car, and I had Liv with me.  Both girls had rough trips home.  It was a long week away from home and our normal rhythms and routines, and it wore on them.  But we were so glad to have the time with family and friends.

who does Livvy look like?

Daddy?

Or mommy?

Pridgeon Open 2014

Anna and Olivia are almost the same size:)

Olivia 5 Months

So, since Liv is almost 6 months, it's probably time to put up her 5 month photos.  Summer is too fun, time just keeps getting away from me.

At five months, Livvy is a mover! She wants to be moving and jabbering all the time.

She's still up twice a night, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't need to be.  A little CIO might be in her future.  She started taking longer naps in the morning around 4 and a half months, but had a major regression with all of our travel lately.

She is SUPER smiley! And a mostly happy girl.  She makes me laugh and smile too, which is such a joy.

Kate and Olivia are starting to interact more, and it's pretty sweet (as long as Kate gives Liv space when she needs it).

Liv is picking up lots of little toys and seems to show a preference for certain ones.  She's getting good at switching them between hands and keeping them in her mouth.  Speaking of things in her mouth, she's turning into a thumb sucker (right thumb).

She is chewing on everything, but no teeth.

She's still got some stranger danger, but I think it's getting better.

She has the cutest cheeks and dimples I've ever seen.  I just love this little girl!
