forever in our hearts

It's never easy to lose someone you love.  It was especially hard to lose Matt's grandpa Dean.  He was such a loving man, an incredibly hard worker, and a civic leader, especially in the farming community.

Grandpa Dean accomplished so much in his life, some of which I only learned about at his funeral, but his accomplishments weren't what seemed to bring him joy.  It was farming and his family.  He loved his kids so much, and his grandkids even more.  The smile on his face when you walked into his house for Saturday night ice cream or just to say hi was the sweetest welcome anyone could ask for.  Even though I married into the Pridgeon family, I always felt special when Grandpa Dean was around.  He had a way of making you laugh and that made everyone comfortable in his presence.

Grandpa Dean also really, really loved his great grand kids.  Each time we saw him this last 6 months he would comment how Kate was such a ray of sunshine, such a good baby (like his own daughter, Barb), and then would say "They sure change you life don't they? But only for the better."

He was right.  Kate has changed our life for the better.  But so did he.  His life and his legacy will make us better people, and you can't ask for much more than that.
